Are You a Pragmatist or a Paladin?

Pragmatist: “This is a job. The job provides me with sustenance; beyond sustenance, economic freedom, beyond economic freedom, happiness.”

Paladin: “This is a mission. The mission provides me the opportunity to toil; embedded in the work, I find the treasure of fulfillment.”

The Pragmatist says “This is a job.” The Paladin says “This is a mission.” Which one are you, and why?

The efforts of pragmatists are concentrated on what affects their immediate vicinity. Their goals? To get what they deserve for the price they pay.

The paladin, on the other hand, is engaged in a holy war, where mission is priority;  understanding the virtue of work, they are willing to heap hardship upon hardship, toil upon toil, for the greater glory of their undertakings.
